My record will be available November 22nd! I will soon have a web store where you can pre-order the album. I will post a link so you can find it.

The album cover photo that you see above was taken by my dear friend Christina Dickson. Christina is not only a wonderful photographer but has inspired me to love Jesus and use art to honor our God and Creator. Take a moment to check out Christina's blog and look at some of her beautiful photography! http://bit.ly/3Zc8

Recently, I have had the privilege to get to know a wonderful artist and musician named Karli Fairbanks. Karli did all of the design for my album artwork and is currently preparing to do a Northwest tour. Check out Karli's website to see if she is coming to a town near you! You wouldn't want to miss her lovely playing and singing! She plays accordion too! http://karlifairbanks.com/

Keep an eye out for album updates! I will be posting a song on my myspace soon!

Just read it.

Hello wonderful, blogging people!
I am not a wonderful, blogging person.
My album is quickly approaching its final destiny. Completion. Perhaps not a final destiny, for I know that this album will continue her journey (yes, it is a she) to find its resting place with you. And that, my friends, will be when the exploration and adventure begins.
I would like to tell you how wonderful all of the musicians were who played on this album. So, I will! They were wonderful! Many have asked when MY album is going to be finished and the truth is, though it is my album, without my dear, musical friends’ contributions, this album would be flat out lame and boring. I feel that this project is a joint effort on all our parts. All of these wondrous musicians are as follows:

Hanneke Cassel; My rad friend and amazing Scottish fiddler! http://www.hannekecassel.com/
http://www.myspace.com/hannekecassel

Chris Lewis: He is just cool. Chris is a rocking guitar player.

Arial Friedman: Wonderful cello player

Floyd DominO: Floyd is like my uncle, only not. He is a Grammy Award winning piano player and pretty good, too! http://www.floyddomino.com/

Abby Gundersen: Abby contributed her amazing vocal and violin skills and helped me arrange a few strings parts. Abby is a gem and plays in her brother’s band, Noah Gundersen and the Courage. http://www.noahgundersen.com/

Bruce Pearson: Bruce is a smiling bass player from the band Garage Voice. Bruce is cool. http://garagevoice.com/

Patrick Toney: Patrick is a groovy drummer who is also from the band, Garage Voice. Patrick is also very cool. http://garagevoice.com/

Derek Konzelman: This fine bass player can also be found playing with the oh, so amazing, Konzelman Family Band. http://www.konzelmans.com/

David Konzelman: Yep, same family band. He plays the keys and he is pretty darn good for a kid… ( =

Drew Konzelman: Assistant producer, arranger, guitarist. Read my September blog. http://www.konzelmans.com/
http://www.myspace.com/konzelmans

Aaron MacMullen: Aaron played some awesome tom and snare parts on a song. Aaron is the drummer for a band called the Acclaim. The Konzelman brothers are also part of this rocking band. http://www.theacclaimmusic.com/

Ben Booher: Ben did a phenomenal job recording the acoustic bass tracks on this record! Thanks Ben! You rock! http://www.booherbrothers.com/

Staci Lynn Andersen: Staci, Staci, Staci. Vocal harmonie and great jokes.

Brice Marie Hansen: My awesome sister rocked the piano on a few tracks!

Elisha Peter Voetberg: Helped with some of the arranging and played some awesome guitar and mandolin.

Annnie Voetberg: Cello playing awesomeness. She also passed her driving test today! You rock Annnie!

*Lilja Voetberg: my most loving, dear and wonderful sister. She has spent countless hours in the studio listening to me. She plays violin on the CD. She has inspired me to keep moving on the CD. To be honest, I would have not been able to do it without Lilja’s wise counsel and ideas. She persevered with me through every step of the way and pushed me to the finish. When I am on my death bed, and thinking back on my life, I will think to myself “I would have not made it through this cruel, cruel world without my sister, Lilja.” When I grow up, I want to be just like Lilja. So, Lilja, I would like to tell you, that when I die, I am giving everything I own to you, my faithful, affectionate, devoted, loyal, caring, encouraging sister.
*I inadvertently left Lilja off of the first draft. She noticed it before I did, so wrote her own tribute.

I would also like to note that these musicians are entirely responsible for what you hear them playing, because they wrote most of their own parts. You can take that either way folks ( =

I am a lame blogger, eh? My computer broke so blogging has become less convenient. I know it is no excuse, but it will have to do for now.

This week I spent some time mixing I’d Rather Have Jesus for my soon to be released hymn album. It is the first song I started recording tracks for and is the first song I will hopefully finish mixing. I have loved working on this album and am learning tons! God has taught me so much and has ministered to me through the words of these precious hymns. My prayer is that the truths of these hymns will minister to the hearts of those who hear them, as well.

I’d rather have Jesus than silver or gold;I’d rather be His than have riches untold;I’d rather have Jesus than houses or lands;I’d rather be led by His nail-pierced hand
Than to be the king of a vast domain, Or be held in sin’s dread sway; I’d rather have Jesus than anything This world affords today.
I’d rather have Jesus than men’s applause;I’d rather be faithful to His dear cause;I’d rather have Jesus than worldwide fame;I’d rather be true to His holy name
He’s fairer than lilies of rarest bloom; He’s sweeter than honey from out the comb; He’s all that my hungering spirit needs;I’d rather have Jesus and let Him lead
– Rhea F. Miller

I arranged this song with my friend, Drew Konzelman, who is co-producing the album with me. Drew has been great in helping me arrange and produce several tracks on the record. Aside from being a good friend, Drew is exceptionally creative and gifted musically and has played a large role in helping me with this project. You should check Drew out at http://www.checkdrewout.com/. Drew and his bothers are also coming out with an EP recording of original music this September! It is going to rock so make sure to keep an eye out for it!

“the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.” – Matthew 13:44
